New shops coming to Independence Mall: Six new storefronts are expected to open at Independence Mall, including a pop-up of the North Carolina Aquarium and a Build-A-Bear. No date has been set for open at this time.

Spooky classic to open at Wilson Center: “Ghostbusters in Concert” is expected to open October 2026 on screen at the Wilson Center with a live orchestra.

New food truck opens locally: Fitz’s Biscuits, a local food truck, is now roaming around the area and features a menu full of classic Southern comfort food.
