Hurricane Erin wreaks havoc on Carolina shore: As Hurricane Erin ramps up its intensity, the storm is not expected to make landfall in North Carolina. However, strong currents and other dangerous ocean conditions are expected. Officials urge beachgoers to stay out of the water.

New veterinary clinic off of New Centre Drive explodes: A gas line ruptured following a hit-and-run Tuesday afternoon, causing an explosion at the Eastern Carolina Medical Veterinary Center. Three firefighters were injured and the perpetrator is currently being held under a $100,000 secured bond.

UNCW kicks off the new school year this week: UNCW students moved back onto campus last weekend! Watch for increased traffic this week as students flood the port city with a stacked agenda for the First Week of Class.
