Talk Ya Truth Thursday at FunkSHUn at the JunkSHUn: Put your pen to paper in honor of the first African American U.S. Poet Laureate, Rita Dove! Join a creative writing circle for artists of all abilities from 7-9pm. Admission is $10.

Anti-Drinking and Driving campaign to take effect for Labor Day weekend: “Booze It and Lose It Campaign” will take effect this weekend for the Labor Day holiday weekend. The North Carolina Highway Safety Program warns drivers to expect more police and checkpoints on the road, so drive safely!

“The Waterfront” to end after one season: Wilmington-filmed Netflix drama “The Waterfront” has not been renewed for a new season. Although the show is cancelled, its first season was the number one show on Netflix for several weeks.
