Waterman’s Brewery to close in September: Waterman’s Brwery and Restaurant in Wrightsville Beach will be closing on September 30, 2025 after 8 years in business. A new restaurant is slated to open at the location.

Wilmington Chef named Chef of the year for NC Restaurant and Lodging Association: Chef Mauricio Huarcaya won the annual Chef Showdown event where he was named the 2025 Chef of the Year. Huarcaya is set to open a new food truck, Gustu Peruano, which won Best Savory Plate.

Wilmington name-dropped in new Netflix comedy special: Well-known comedian Dusty Slay recently released his new Netflix Special “Wet Heat”. Check it out to hear a comedic story from our very own Wilmington, in addition to other Southern stories. Slay will return to Wilmington to perform in October.
